The Goddess is Nature, Her Language is Dreaming

Wherever we are in the world, however far from our ancestral lands, our dreams remain an unwavering link to the indigenous landscapes of our innermost being. Our dreams speak to us in the native tongue of our heart’s homelands; that soul place where all aspects of creation strive to resonate in harmony with their creator.

The primordial life force, also known as the shakti energy or the Divine Mother Goddess, is the intrinsic intelligence that animates all forms of energy and matter.

Because this shakti force vibrates within all phenomena, seen and unseen, there is a synchronicity and harmony – a mysterious web of intelligence – that connects all life within this universe. By aligning with this unifying force, we can experience the relationship that flows between all things; mind and body, human and nature, and our outer-world and inner-world experiences.

The science of quantum fields is now proving beyond a doubt that at the most foundational level of the physical world you will find something akin to dreaming consciousness—something that is in a mysterious relationship with our own observing mind. This is knowledge that our ancient Mother Goddess worshipping ancestors took as a given: that at the foundation of the cosmos lies the divine intelligence-consciousness-mind of the Creatrix.

Divinity, whenever we choose to be aware of it, reminds us of this enormous, simple truth. Everything we see and know – the rocks and trees, our books and computers, our food and water, the birds and animals and insects, the seas and mountains and deserts – are all this one thing, stardust on its way to becoming cosmic dust again. For me the gods and goddesses, all of them, are this reminder, that we belong to everything.

JANE MEREDITH, Aspecting the Goddess

This same life force that governs and animates the gemination of a seed also governs and animates the germination of a human fetus. This force is the divine intelligence of nature. She was historically most often personified and deified as feminine, the Great Mother Goddess, because she births all of it into being. All forms of matter and energy emerge from Her.

Dreams, being biological necessities, also emerge from nature, from the belly-mind of the same governing and intelligent force of creation that we humans personified historically as the Great Mother Goddess. We all dream, animals and humans alike. And according to indigenous wisdom, the plants, rocks and elements are all dreaming too. Our dreams remind us of a world where everything is relating to us, and speaking to us.

Our spirituality is a oneness and an interconnectedness with all that lives and breathes, even with all that does not live or breathe.

MUDROOROO, Indigenous Australian

Dreams, emerging from the unconscious, speak to us in nature’s language, the language of the creatrix Goddess. Our body’s indigenous language. And being of nature, their intentions are pure. To guide us into the perfect expressions of our true and authentic selves. Like guiding a flower to bloom or a tree to fruit, nature guides us to be wholly and unashamedly just as she intended us to be; she guides us to be wholly our true authentic selves.

I wonder if Snow Goose dreams of her astounding migration route before she takes flight? And I wonder does a dream of bad weather delay her journey for a few days?

Of course, we are unable to access the depths of Snow Goose’s inner world with any empirical certainty, but it seems fair to assume that dreams, being the language of nature, might contain the gifts of guidance and navigation that nature wishes for all of her creations. Of course, like us, animals learn much from the teachings of their mothers, which is why animals born in captivity cannot usually be returned to the wild. But it is only natural to expect that the wild animal’s dreams will contain the whisperings of the Great Mother, helping to guide them and prepare them for their journeys and passages through the world–attuning them with their incredible intuition in order to survive in an everchanging landscape.

I wonder, does White Swan dream of her beloved? Does she practice their intricate dances of intimacy while she sleeps?

The Goddess certainly guided me towards my beloved through a dream I had the night before we bonded in waking life! A story for another time 🙂

Nature’s desire for us is to go forth and multiply. To expand and evolve on all levels, physical and spiritual. Like a tiny seed that unfolds steadily day by day, blooming, changing, growing and resting with the seasons, all in perfect timing, until it has reached the glorious heights of a giant tree. Nature also holds a plan for us, and guides us day by day through our dreams as we navigate the seasons, passages and challenges of our lives. Helping us to balance the multiple levels of our existence—our family life, our cultural life, our spiritual life, our work life. Guiding us towards the health and homeostasis of our physical body, our emotional body, and our mental and spiritual bodies. Not so much in the direction of our egoic desires, but in the embodiment of our soul, our true nature, our divine purpose here on Earth.

“When women reassert their relationship with the wildish nature, they are gifted with a permanent and internal watcher, a knower, a visionary, an oracle, an inspiratrice, an intuitive, a maker, a creator, an inventor, and a listener who guide, suggest, and urge vibrant life in their inner and outer lives, no matter what.”

Clarissa Pinkola Estes
